i'm afraid nothing will ever be as iconic
as the first season of Grey's Anatomy.
A RECEPIE FOR THE PERFECT START
Magic almost didn't happen - I think we all know that by now. Alex was supposed to be an episode character. Thank Shonda she decided to write him in.
Seasons 1 to 3 of GA had everything I was looking for in a show: the romance; the sad, always tired FMC [I am forever a Meredith girl]; the being all twenty and messy but also the responsible part I tend to romanticize in my own life.
But the best thing were THE interns.
Meredith Grey
₊˚ ✧ ━━━━⊱⋆⊰━━━━ ✧ ₊˚
him. The one to be late on her first day of work yet still has all the perfect answers. The one with a famous mom to get talk behind her back.
But Meredith is also the one bearing her mother's secret — a thing she should get used to by the time Ellis got Alzheimer's. She was the only one that stayed with her. Last one standing.
One of my favorite episodes is Izzy's party. Mer, George and Cristina dancing on the table, being drunk and playing cards [my absolute favorite activity]; all those images are living in my head rent-free.

SADNESS TAKES A HUMAN FORM IN
...and her introduction was one of the best I ever saw on any TV show. She is the it-girl, the one to throw a man out after spending the night with
"i think you cant wait for
someone to fly underneath
you and save your life.
i think you
have to save yourself"
And then Derek appeared. The dancing with tequila — or dancing at all — was such a Mer thing. I do it too, the dancing shit out. I highly recommend it.
The episode ends with a clean-up after the party. Because at the end of the day, Meredith, as wild as she can be, is loyal and responsible. I think that's why I fell in love with her.
One thing I find lacking in Mer's storyline those first three seasons is Ellis. The evil mother that says messed up things dies way too fast and easy. It leaves Mer and hers relationship unexplored. As much as I love Meredith, she could have suffered more. The way she hids behind a wall after The Secret is out - maybe seeing more things Ellis did would make Mer's reaction a little more...
Alex Karev AND THE HOLY CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
My, how I hated that man at first.

Alex is the one character that WILL grow on you, given time. I mean, how not to like a man that is saving kids, right? But Alex is so much more than that. I think the first episode that really spoke to me was the Thanksgiving one in season 2 [just a pure coincidence, it's also one of my favorites in the whole show]. When Meredith and Alex are talking about how she is so sad, she might infect the happy people. The whole talk and then Alex petting Mer's head did things to my brain chemistry.
He was good for Izzy. Sure, he slept with Olivia, shitty move. Later, though. Alex was good. I don't think they should end up together, especially not how the show ended his storyline. I will talk about Izzy below, but this version of her isn't good for Alex. If only I could be in the writers' room.
Another thing I liked was how he defended Meredith after George raped her. He was the only one, even Cristina — ehh, I hate this storyline. George deserved that punch.
I wish they let Alex become true friends with the rest of the inters a little sooner.
THAT ONE CHARACTER THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN GAY...
...it would solve all of the problems I have with him.
Raping Mer and then to cite Alex "mopping around the place"? Cheating on Callie? Yeah, you got married for a shitty reason, be a grown up and divorce.
Again, with the whole Mer thing, at least he acknowleged he knew she was in a shitty state. At least.
Because George did have his moments. Heart in the elevator, whatever. The bomb episode - you can see how iconic it is by how often i refer to it - he was a rockstar during Bailye's labour.
George O'Malley
That one liver transplant patient, that hit on him. The trans boy Ollie episode. His relationship with the chief, him helping during the nurses' strike. Him and Burke - a pure joy to watch.
But no he had to have a crush on Mer, destroy Callie's life and sleep with Izzy. Grow a pair, George. And get yourself a boyfriend, like a real man.

WASTED POTENTIAL OF
Izzy Stevens
Think about what they wanted us to believe about Izzie when we first met her. She was a model, the sweet, trusting girls-girl.
Then she slut shames Meredith, is an ass to Callie and sleeps with a married man. During the bomb episode she sleeps with Alex. She risks her career for a creep [sorry JDM, you always play characters I end up hating; it's a true talent]. And then there is The Sex With A Ghost Of My Dead Fiance / Brain Tumor Thing.
Izzie deserves better!
We are told by Addison Izzy is the best she has seen for years. Well, I don't see that. We are told Izzy is empathetic, yet she judges the quince mom. And the hell was with her reaction to Mer-George fiasco? Picking sides, what are we four?
I will forever stay mad at writers for ruining a perfectly good character. It seems to be a patter with them, because April is annoying as hell too. Why is it whenever they try to introduce a rainbows and sunshine hetero character, it ends up like this?
Some of you might point out the existence of Lexie Grey. But Lexie Grey died out there, in the woods.
One day I will make a post about my reimagining of Izzy and her story in Grey's Anatomy. My girl really should have a happy ending. Stay tune :33
THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY Cristina Yang
What I appriciate the most about Cristina's character is her being childless. Her etopic pregnancy story could have been reweritten a little, but this were the 00s. It's a miracle she didn't end up SATM by the end of season 3.
I absolutely adored her relationship with Burke. I will make a separete post about the OG attendings, but let me just say it was a real shame IW turned out to be a bigot.
Mer and Cristina, the Twisted Sisters were iconic. Whenever I don't want to do something I always go back to Cristina jumping on Mer's bed as saying whatever, everybody got problems now get up!
more coming soon
home
Derek once told Meredith she was like comping up for fresh air. Cristina is someone like that for me.
Profesional at work, messy at home. Sharp, quick, funny. True to her own belief.

It was harsh, but sometimes you don't need soft. Cristina was a perfect friend to give you that tough love.
Kind of unexpected turn of events was Cristina and Alex's relationship. Siblings, if I ever saw that. They had so many iconic lines [nice panties, Yang! In your dreams Evil Spawn // You almost killed me you crazy bitch!]. One of the scenes I always like to go back to is when Cristina congratulated Alex on getting a job offer at the end of their residency. Cuties.

and early Grey's Anatomy :33
