twenties are better

Being a teen was supposed

to be this grand fairy-tale

I always saw in the movies.

It wasn't for me. But, then -

was it really like this for anyone?

Movies make growing up seem so scary,

but for me, becoming an adult was the first

time I ever felt free.

[I] independence is a big thing for me. I always hated how I had to ask my parents for help [or anyone, really]. Like, what do you mean, I have to go with my mom to see a doctor? You can't be serious...

But the best part is i can make my own, dumb decisions and [III] I have to live with them. I can go out drinking on a random night with my friends and come home whenever I want. Having a headache the next morning? It's just my problem - and I love every second of it.

...but now I do everything

on my own. I've found my

first apartment alone, i sang

up for university alone. I

got my first serious job and don't have

to ask my parents for money anymore. Or

permission to buy something.

Doing stuff on your own is hard. It's scary and new if you weren't fortunate enough to have parents that trust you. But, I promise, it's worth it. Sometimes I hate it too - nobody likes calling anyone, having to use your insurance to fix that one thing that broke in your bathroom. Remembering how claustrophobic it was to be a helpless kid makes it so much better.

[II] my looks

I've been dying my hair red since I turned 16. But at 15, when I first asked my parents about it, my dad hated the idea. Now, since I have a job and live alone, he doesn't have a say anymore.

I just got my sneak bites piercing last month. I wear short skirts, fishnets and as much jewelry as my heart desires. And nobody knows what hair color I was born with!
